MORTON, Ill -- The Morton Economic Development Council held their annual luncheon Wednesday, with featured keynote speaker, Frank Knott, president of Vital Economy.
The luncheon was to thank the council's many investors and update them on new progress.
Morton's EDC exceeded every goal they set for themselves this year including adding 152 new jobs and 12 new business. Seven businesses decided to expand within Morton.
The council also finished the design for the city's new indoor water park and plaza.
"Morton is one of many communities a part of focus forward, a central Illinois initiative that is creating a regional economic development strategy-which we're providing guidance to," Knott said.
The council is on year two of their five year plan.
