MORTON, Ill -- Mayor-elect for the village of Morton Ron Rainson says his only agenda is to represent the entire community once he takes office next month.

Rainson retired last year after a decade of running his engineering company Axis Incorporated.

Tuesday night Rainson defeated his opponent Stephen Newhouse.

Rainson says with tri-county crime on the rise, one of his main goals is pooling resources to the Morton Police Department.

"We want to make sure our police department is one of the best in the country, best equipped, best trained, staffed," Rainson explains. "Shortly on the heels of that would be we want to continue to make sure we have a lot of fresh water and good sewer systems and roads and highways."

The mayor-elect says smaller communities must take care of themselves due to over-spending on the state and federal levels.

He will be sworn into office on May 6th.
