PEORIA, Ill. -- Its Grand Nationals weekend and that means the annual parade of motorcycles from Peoria Motorcycle Club Park to the Riverfront.

About 1,700 motorcycles rolled into downtown Saturday morning for a rally at Festival Park.

Events included live entertainment, a bike show and performances by stunt riders.

A portion of the $15 fee to participate in the parade goes to the Downed Riders Association which helps professional motorcycle racers that have been injured.

The racers themselves have no insurance," said Tom Harms, whose involved with the fundraiser. "They have no life insurance, they have no hospitalization, except what they get from the AMA. And a lot of times that's insufficient. So we take $5 off of every entry that comes into the parade out here and that goes to the Downed Rider program."

Organizers of this year's parade and rally are hoping to raise about $10,000 dollars for the Downed Riders Association.
