SPRINGFIELD, Ill - Motorcycle awareness month in the state of Illinois officially kicked off Wednesday.

Don't be surprised if you see signs in yards and on the roads that read "Start Seeing Motorcycles". According to Illinois' Transportation Secretary, last year motorcycles represented 15% of all motor vehicle fatalities.

"One life lost is one too many," Ann Schneider,Illinois transportation Secretary said. "So we're asking people to really pay attention this year as they are out on the roads and do the right thing. Look twice and save a life."

Several motorcycle groups will be handing out "share the roads" pamphlets in rest areas throughout the state on weekends this month.
