LACON, Ill. -- Marshall County authorities are trying to figure out what caused a late night house fire in Lacon.

Crews were called to 512 Second Street around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say no one was in the vacant home at the time of the fire, but firefighters did find the electricity was still on in the house.

"There's just been some people out there during the morning...some kids. So we don't know if that's the cause, or what might be," said Lacon-Sparland Fire Chief Brian Snyder.

Those living near the house were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters from Henry, Chillicothe, and Toluca were called in to help fight the fire.
