PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man accused of murdering his wife last Valentine's Day had his trial pushed back to May 5 on Monday.

Nathan Leuthold's trial was originally scheduled to begin on March 10. Monday, both sides agreed that the original date was probably too premature.

Circuit Judge Kevin Lyons said that there are over a dozen other cases scheduled for May 5, but Leuthold's case would get priority. He has been in custody since March of last year. The case is expected to take about a week when it gets underway.

Leuthold is accused of shooting his wife, Denise, last year. She was found gunshot wound inside her parent's home at 700 West Mossville Road.

Leuthold's next court date is March 13.
