WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Build it and they will come but first, you must have someone to build it.
Building officials say contractors are struggling with shortages of workers and it's only expected to worsen over the next few years, even though the home-building market has been improving with a strengthening economy.
Building officials thought with so many people currently out of work, there would be many knocking on the door of construction, but that is not the case.
Currently, the shortage is affecting a handful of states, including Texas, Arizona, Iowa, and Florida, but it is expected to worsen nationwide.
