PEORIA, Ill. -- City officials announced Friday that a neighborhood improvement conference is coming to Peoria.

The Regional Neighborhood Network Conference will take place in September.

The conference brings together over 400 community leaders, activists and elected officials to share neighborhood improvement strategies.

Attendees have the chance to learn about programs and techniques from each other and implement them in their own cities.

President of Old Town South Neighborhood Association Lavetta Ricca says there are several issues that need to be concentrated on.

"Drug dealing, loitering, houses... many many houses boarded up and the list just goes on but those are our main concerns," Ricca said.

Ricca says she has attended the conference in the past and Peoria has implemented some new programs because of it.
