BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- There is a new resident at the Miller Park Zoo. A San Clemente goat named Typhoon was born last Friday.

San Clemente goats are listed as a critically endangered heritage breed and the male kid is only the third born in captivity in the state of Illinois.

Typhoon gets his name from his parents. His dad is Poseidon and his mom is named Breeze. The San Clemente goats are located in the children's zoo and they are helping to teach zoo patrons an important lesson.

"Even though it's the children's zoo, we're still able to educate talk about conservation in our children's zoo. Most people may see it's just a goat but we are able to educate them about conservation of many different kinds of animals here at the Miller Park Zoo," said Miller Park Zoo Superintendent Jay Tetzloff.

The zoo is home to three other adult San Clemente Goats besides Typhoon's parents. Valencia is also pregnant and expected to give birth any day.
