LEXINGTON, Ill. -- The mayor of Lexington is calling a new business there "maybe the single largest private investment" in that town's history.

Wirtz Beverage-Illinois unveiled its new distribution center to the public Friday.

The business will employ more than 100 people.

The hope is for more economic growth as a spin-off of the distribution center.

"Hopefully brought the construction jobs and what we can do," said Wirtz President Rocky Wirtz. "Spending money locally too it should be good because even today we have local caterers and a local florist.

"We've recently approved a redevelopment agreement plat for a new subdivision in town hoping the employees that are going to work here are going to want to stay here," said Lexington mayor John Mohr.

The company said with the new facility it will be able to distribute nearly 1.4 million cases of beverages yearly.
