WASHINGTON, D.C. -- There's good news for the housing industry.
The Commerce Department reports that last month, builders broke ground on the most homes and apartments since July 2008.
October's new home construction was up 3.6 percent from September.
Single family home construction dropped 0.2 percent while apartment construction rose 10 percent.
Some analysts say the housing market has been making consistent gains this year, which is helping the struggling economy.
