Chicago, Ill. -- The "Illinois Review" website has published a resignation letter said to be from the person accusing Treasurer Dan Rutherford of misconduct.

The resignation letter, dated Monday, has the name of the employee blacked out.

In the letter, the individual indicates he or she is a victim of sexual harassment. referencing Treasurer Rutherford's " unwanted sexual advances or inappropriate sexual comments".

The letter-writer also accuses Rutherford of using his office as a "campaign arm" in his race for Governor.

Rutherford, in turn, has accused the lawyer for the employee of attempting to extort $300,000 from him in return for making the allegations go away.

Rutherford has connected opponent Bruce Rauner to the lawyer, but Rauner said he had nothing to do with it.
