PEORIA, Ill. -- Nearly two weeks before taking office, the newly elected President for the Peoria Federation of Teachers Union has resigned.

According to News Radio 1470, Scott Donahue resigned in an e-mail to District 150's teachers last Friday.

Donahue cited health issues and his doctor's advice to "alleviate undue stress."

The 7th and 8th grade science teacher says he will continue working full time at Von Stueben Middle School.

Donahue was to take over as District 150 teachers' union president during the local's next leadership meeting May 14th.
