WASHINGTON, Ill. -- Many children lost their homes after the destructive tornado.
Tuesday, they got to put their anxiety aside.
They laughed and celebrated the New Year with music and fun at Julie K's Noon Year's Eve event.
Many attendees were Washington residents who enjoyed the free show.
Others came from out of town to show their support for the city.
"Kind of shine some light out here. They had a rough end of the year. Get everybody over here, you know, get some business into Washington. Celebrate with all the families and kids," said Peoria resident Ethan Soliday.
Julie K says holding the celebration early in the day frees up parents to celebrate tonight.
