EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- It turns out, area residents did not have to wait in much of a line to buy the new Apple iPhone in central Illinois.
Our photojournalist traveled around the Peoria, East Peoria and Pekin area early this morning and only found 6 people in line at a Verizon store in East Peoria.
By the time this store opened at 8 a.m., about 30 people were in line.
One lady from Geneseo had a good reason for why she needed the phone today.
"We are full-time RVer's and we are ready to take off Monday morning on our trip and we needed this technology to keep communications with our kids so that they know where we are at and are okay," said Carolyn Werner.
Some people said they wanted the phone because the iPhone 5 works on the Verizon 4G LTE network and has Apple's newer, faster processing chip.
