PEKIN, Ill. -- We are just one day away from the 25th annual Duck Race to benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse and it’s “off with his hair” for one local man.
Just last week, board member Joe Ricigliano offered up a unique incentive for central Illinois residents to purchase a duck.
Ricigliano is an employee at Pekin Insurance and had set a goal to sell 2,000 ducks for his team. If he reached his goal, Ricigliano said he would shave his head.
Ricigliano has achieved that goal and is now looking to exceed it by topping 2,500 ducks by splashdown at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Joe said he was not too crazy about shaving his head, but he knows the money raised goes to a vital organization helping the tri-county area.
If you haven't purchased a duck yet, there is still time.
Volunteers are selling ducks at Erin Feis from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and again from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ducks are also available for purchase at the Peoria Riverfront Market on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Ducks cost $5 a piece, the grand prize winner gets $5,000. To purchase a duck or see a full list of prizes click on the link above.
