PEORIA, Ill -- A One Class at a time Grant has really taken off at a local school.

Students at Mark Bills Middle School put six-weeks of work to the test.

They've been learning about kites, everything from their history to how to make their own.

In January, the school received our HOI-19 and Cefcu $1,000One Class at a Time Grant.

International Baccalaureate Coordinator Denise Smith said some of that money was used to help make the kites fly Tuesday afternoon.

"We have original designs, we have kites that have been made with recycled materials that we got from Charter Oak and we have kites that are called sled kites. We have the Guatemalan kites, and then we just have some original designs that students work on, trying to decide what will and won't fly and then they put it together," said Smith.
