LOGAN COUNTY, Ill. -- A San Jose man is in critical condition after his car plowed into the back of a school bus full of children.

Dustin Otey, 28, was the lone occupant of a Ford focus that crashed into the back of a stopped school bus on Route 136 Thursday afternoon.

The bus, from Illini Central School, was dropping off students one mile east of San Jose just before 4 p.m. when it was rear-ended.

Otey had to be cut out of the car which was wedged under the back of the bus.

He was life-flighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he remains in critical condition.

The bus driver and 25 children on-board the bus were not injured.
