MORTON, Ill. -- Habitat for Humanity is turning a negative situation into a positive one.
Recently, reports surfaced about a Morton resident petitioning an upcoming Habitat home because it's wood siding would not match the all brick homes nearby.
The home is being built for Brian Wood, a Sergeant in the Army National Guard, who served in Afghanistan, and his family.
Habitat officials said brick siding is planned for the front of the house, and they may eventually be able to do the entire home.
Executive Director LeAnne Schmidgall said they have seen an outpouring of support since this story went viral both local and nationally.
"People are very caring and they want to help this family and we're just excited because Habitat is all about volunteering and giving back. This is all coming together in a great way," said Schmidgall.
Construction will begin in the spring.
