DUNLAP, Ill. – The Dunlap School District is warning parents following an incident at a bus stop Tuesday morning.

An alert sent out to parents, states that a man in a blue pick up truck approached a student at a school bus stop in Lake of the Woods neighborhood.

The student said the truck circled the area and then pulled up in front of him. The man, described as a white male in his 20’s or 30’s, allegedly asked the boy to come over to the truck so he could show him something.

The boy said he pretended like he was dialing a phone and the man drove away.

Tuesday evening, the boy told his parent who alerted the school district.

Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies searched the area. Neither the truck nor suspect was located.

School district officials are asking parents to talk to their children about safety in the wake of the incident.
