PEKIN, Ill. -- Pekin residents had the opportunity to see Police officers in a different light on Friday morning.

The Pekin Police Department hosted their first "Coffee with a Cop" gathering at the Starbucks on Court Street.

Officers said it was an opportunity for residents to ask questions and share concerns.

"We really just wanna open it up to whatever topics that folks want to talk about, but more than anything, we want them to know that we're here to serve them and want them to get to know us a little bit better," said Pekin Police Public Information Officer Mike Eeten.

"There's a lot of drug trafficking and sometimes in the neighborhood you're wondering if a house is producing meth or you know if you have concerns about that you could ask," said Resident Lori Behrends.

Pekin Police said this was the first of many "Coffee with a Cop" events.
