PEKIN, Ill. -- The Pekin Public Library is ready for a facelift, a $6 million facelift.
Saturday, administrators presented their proposed updates to the public. Then they asked the community to pitch some ideas for renovations.
Some topics discussed were separate rooms for children and young adults and space for group projects.
The library is 40-years-old and needs updates with infrastructure, lighting, carpeting, and parking.
"What we hope to get from the community is a sense of what they want to see in a library. And then we can design a library that fits Pekin," said Jeff Brooks, Dir., Pekin Public Library.
The next step is to take the library plans to Pekin City Council in March and Brooks hope to get funding through municipal codes.
