PEKIN, Ill. -- When most people think of a library, they often think of books, research and a quiet atmosphere. On Saturday, the Pekin Public Library defied those characteristics.
The library was the site of Wildlife Prairie State Park's Feathered Friends bald eagle program.
It allows community members to get an up-close look at wild birds, including a bald eagle.
However, the event wasn't just about learning about the birds but also the importance they serve in environmental conservation.
"Seeing an animal up close like this that you normally don't see in the wild makes you more conscientious of what you're doing and how it's going to affect them," said Melissa Sauder, a Park naturalist. "So, the more people know there's a problem, the more they are going to try and help it."
Wildlife Prairie Park hosts events like this almost every weekend.
