PEKIN, Ill. – A Pekin man has pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence for his role in a fatal 2012 crash.

Brock Meerseman, 20, appeared in Tazewell County Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI and disregard of a stop sign.

Meerseman was the driver of a Chevy Aveo compact car that crashed on October 21 killing Brandon Haley, 19, of Pekin instantly.

Police said the car was traveling east on Hickory Grove when it failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into a field before hitting a guide wire for a utility pole.

Autopsy results showed that Hanley suffered multiple internal and external injuries from being ejected from the car.

Meerseman is scheduled to be sentenced on February 13.
