The investigation into how a loaded gun made inside the Peoria County Jail last month is now complete and three officers will face disciplinary action.
Tyron D. Robinson was brought to the jail on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Police say he intentionally wore several layers of clothing, including multiple pairs of pants, with the intention of smuggling a gun inside the jail.
One Peoria County Sheriff's deputy has been suspended for 20 days without pay. Two Peoria Police officers will also face disciplinary action. The police department is currently determining what that discipline will be.
Both the Sheriff and a police spokesman say there is nothing wrong with the policies in place, the officers simply did not follow them. Robinson will now face additional charges of possession of a weapon in a penal institution.
