PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria Housing Authority announced Wednesday that they are the recipient of a $246,000 grant to assist residents 62 and older.

The funds are going to the Supportive Services program which is run by a Supportive Services Manager who assists residents with signing up for benefits with organizations that offer free services on food, bus passes, phone service and other necessities.

The PHA says that residents at Sterling Towers will benefit the most from the programs, which include a monthly community building trip, wellness clinics on site and connecting residents with classes for life skills, among others.
