PEORIA, Ill. -- If your holiday travel plans involve the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport, Director of Airports Gene Olson has some handy tips for air travelers.
* ARRIVE EARLY: Airport officials say they highly recommend those traveling arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure. The top reasons for this include time to check in and proceeding through security checkpoint, being at the gate 20 minutes before departure, and adjusting to any glitches in flight delays or moved gates. Late passengers are not permitted to board.
* PARKING: The airport sees many travelers during the holiday time, so vehicles may need to park in the additional parking lot. A shuttle will operate extra hours during the holidays. Cars cannot be left at the curb side unattended.
* USE TECHNOLOGY: Airport officials encourage travelers to visit your carrier's website to confirm flight times and print boarding passes before heading to the airport. Sign up for the airlines' automatic notification systems (text messaging, emails, and/or voice messaging) to alert you to potential problems in your schedule.
