PEORIA, Ill. -- Students at Peoria Notre Dame High School spent Friday hosting a blood drive in memory of a classmate.

On March 5th of last year, 16-year-old Maggie Bertram was killed in a fatal single car crash.

Maggie would have been a senior at Notre Dame this year.

Students, teachers and members of the community all had the opportunity to donate in Maggie's honor.

Maggie was a registered organ donor, and students say she assisting others.

"I think she would think it was really awesome. Maggie was always about helping people, and was a really good person," said Peoria Notre Dame Junior Janelle Dugan.

Organizers hope to receive donations from more than 60 people.
