Single vehicle accident leaves one teen in critical condition

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria Police Department is investigating a serious injury accident involving teenagers.

Officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of Columbia Terrace at around 1:00 PM Saturday.

They arrived to find four teenagers in a silver Grand Prix.

According to Police, the Grand Prix had been traveling westbound on Columbia Terrace when it lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane.

The vehicle then struck a parked truck and pushed it into another vehicle parked behind it.

The driver of the vehicle was a 16 year old female and the three passengers were ages 15,16, and 18.

The occupants of the Grand Prix were extricated by the Peoria Fire Department.

Three of the teenagers had serious but non-life threatening injuries.

One 16 year old male was listed in critical condition.

Police believe speed may have been a factor.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident which is under investigation.
