PEORIA, Ill -- A Peoria man is dead due to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot would to the head.
Peoria Police were called to 1112 North East Glendale Avenue around 8:45 Monday evening.
Authorities say that's where they found 22-year-old Stephen Owens dead.
According to Captain Mike Scally, witnesses said they were inside the home playing with a gun.
"He was playing with the gun from the information we have at this time. We're still talking to witnesses down at the police station. He did have the gun himself and it's a self-inflicted gunshot wound, possibly doing something like a Russian roulette type of thing," said Capt. Scally.
The gun has been recovered. Preliminary autopsy results show that Owens died of a contact range, self-inflicted gunshot wound. Toxicology results are expected in two weeks.
Police are not looking for any suspects at this time.
Captain Scally was not sure how many people were in the home at the time of the incident or if drugs or alcohol played in role.
