PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Promise is the latest recipient of the "Investing in Illinois" award.
On Thursday, State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth (D-Peoria) and representatives from AT&T announced the award, and presented a $2,000 check to provide scholarships to Peoria students.
“In today’s economy a college education is necessary to getting a good, high-paying job, but the cost can be staggering,” said Gordon-Booth. “Luckily, for local students, Peoria Promise is there to help pay for school and give participants a chance for a brighter future. I would like to thank everyone who works with Peoria Promise for the tremendous way they give back to the community.”
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Tara Gerstner, Executive Director of Peoria Promise. “Every dollar helps provide scholarships to students. We would like to thank Rep. Gordon-Booth for nominating us for this award and AT&T for their generous donation.”
