PEORIA Ill -- It's the Riverfront Museum's first year taking in all the excitement that comes with IHSA's state basketball tournament.

Museum officials say they have seen a large increase in attendance over the past weekend from teams and visitors of the tournament.

Attendance to the museum was up 50% last weekend, with many taking a break in between games to see the IHSA Peak Performance Gallery.

Officials are hoping these results carry over to next year.

"It's our first year so we have huge aspirations," said Peoria Riverfront Museum CEO and President Jim Richerson. "We saw a 50% increase last weekend. I think that is great and moving in the right direction. We can only go up from here and that's really good."

Visitors received $1 off their admission fee to the museum with their tournament ticket stub.

Families also had the chance to check out the whole museum with a $30 weekend pass.
