PEORIA, Ill. -- OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Methodist Medical Center, Pekin Hospital and Proctor Hospital announced Tuesday that they are lifting visitor restrictions.
The restrictions are being lifted because the Peoria County Health Department is reporting fewer flu cases.
For the last two weeks, all Peoria-area hospitals have been operating under a restricted visitor policy recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health, including allowing no visitors under the age of 18.
Even with the restrictions lifted, hospital officials are asking residents not to visit hospitalized loved ones if they are experiencing flu like symptoms.
The Peoria-area hospitals said in a statement that they thank everyone for their patience in this matter.
