PEORIA, Ill. -- Nature lovers and recreational vehicle (RV) enthusiasts had tons to appreciate at Peoria's 31st Central Illinois Recreational show.

Peoria's Civic Center hosted the largest recreational vehicle show in the nation. More than 80 RVs, dozens of boats, canoes and other vehicles aimed to enjoy the outdoors.

Though it's miserable outside, shoppers like Kewanee resident Sue Vogt were simply there thinking about the Spring.

"We're looking at the different campers," said Vogt. We'll have one and we can just go when it's bad weather."

"My son, Grant, was tired of being inside all the time so we thought this would be a good way for him to run around and see some big trucks," said Peoria resident Patrick Rupe.

For Brimfield resident Seth Schaffer, Saturday was about checking out the latest gear.

"Just checking out some of the campers we have one, but it's always fun to look at the new ones and some of the accessories," said Schaffer.

In 2014, there is a lot to took forward to.

"Some of the biggest trends right now--aluminum wheels, island kitchens, solid surface counter tops and more," said Pete's RV Center consultant Josh Mirowski.

Even with the strained economy, the RV industry is booming with RV related annual sales exceeding $37 billion.

"The industry is doing a lot better. In 2009 the industry took a big crash but we've been doing better since then," said Mirowski.

"Last year was a good year, but this year is going to be even better," said Bill Holzgethan, Terry's RV Center consultant. "There is a lot of interest at the shows and manufacturers come out with a lot of different products, so this year is going to be a good year."

Event organizer, Erika Poch said RVs are the perfect way to stay connected with your loved ones.

"This is a very economical, nice friendly way to for every member of the family to enjoy something," said Poch.
