PEORIA, Ill -- Disney On Ice invited the Peoria Boys and Girls Club to partake in a little bit of Disney magic on Wednesday.

The children went to the Owen's Center and spent over an hour there. They got to skate on the ice, meet skaters, and then got a surprise visit from Mickey Mouse.

This year's Disney On Ice production is entitled "Treasure Trove", and is bringing stars such as Peter Pan, Jasmine, Snow White, The Lion King, and Alice in Wonderland to life on ice.

Both the children and the ice skaters were very excited for the opportunity.

"Actually when I walked into this rink, it reminds me of when I used to grow up in a small rink, and when I first took the ice for my very first time," said Cole Davis, Principal Skater for Disney On Ice.

"Most of these kids come from poverty backgrounds, so they don't necessarily have the opportunity to come do fun things like ice skating,” said Megan Faley, Assistant Program Director of the Boys & Girls Club. “And so a lot of them are so excited that they got to try something new."

Performances of "Disney on Ice: Treasure Cove" begin Thursday night and run through Sunday.

Tickets are still available at the Peoria Civic Center box office.
