PEORIA, Ill -- Police are investigating the robbery of a Peoria man that happened at 2200 N. Knoxville Avenue on Monday.

The victim said that he lives near where the robbery took place and walked to a nearby gas station around 10:00 pm to buy a soda.

On the way back, the victim said that a black Impala pulled up next to him. A suspect got out of the vehicle, grabbed the victim from behind and put a gun to his head and put him in the vehicle.

The victim said that there were four men total in the vehicle, but he only got a good look at the two in the back seat with him.

The victim said he was driven to 408 E. Arcadia and told to get out of the vehicle. He said that the suspect with the gun put him against the wall in the garage, put the barrel of the weapon in the victim's mouth and went through his pockets.

The suspects took the victim's wallet, which contained around $300 in cash, and cell phone.

The victim said that he was told by the suspects to take his keys and jacket and run away from the scene.

Authorities said that they asked the victim why he did not report the robbery sooner. The victim said that he lives near where the robbery took place and that he was afraid of retaliation if he reported the crime.
