Peoria man arrested in connection to Oct. 11 homicide

PEORIA, Ill. -- A man has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a man found behind a vacant house.

Police have arrested and charged Kent Irby Jr., 25, in the shooting death of 31 year old Carnell Ashford, who was found in an alley in the 1400 block of NE Perry Friday morning.

The Peoria County Coroner says Ashford died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Irby faces a variety of charges including second degree murder, and felony mob action.

Irby is being held on $300,000 bond. His next court date is November 14.
