PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man beaten and robbed over the weekend received minor injuries, police say.

The 60 year-old victim said he left his residence in the 1600 block of Westmoreland at midnight Saturday to withdraw his social security check from a local bank.

When walking back to his home, he was approached by four males. They followed him into an alley on the 1600 block of S. Lydia Ave. and attacked him.

The victim said he was punched and kicked by the suspects and they threatened to kill him if he did not give them his money. He complied and the suspects fled.

The victim was treated At UnityPoint Health-Methodist with minor injuries to the face.

No descriptions of the suspects are available other than that they were young, black males.
