PEORIA, Ill -- A Peoria man is behind bars Saturday night in connection with a home invasion.

Peoria Police responded to a shooting at 1307 West Butler Friday night. 51-year-old James Humphrey has been arrested.

Among his charges are home invasion, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities say Humphrey was gone when officers arrived on the initial call of domestic issues with his wife and another person, but say Humphrey returned to the home, forced his way inside, and fired a shot at the other person.

Humphrey then fled, but was later arrested after he admitted to being at the residence. He denied shooting at the victim.

Officers were able to locate a shell casing at the scene, but did not find a gun.

Humphrey is scheduled to be in court most likely on Monday. The case is still under investigation.
