PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man is charged with assaulting a police officer following a weekend incident that required authorities to use a battering ram to access his home.

55-year-old James Stack was arrested at his home at 1555 Folkers Ave. Sunday afternoon.

Police say Stack, a suspect in an assault case, fled on his bicycle.

When police caught him, Stack reportedly pushed an officer and then pushed a door closed on the officer's arm.

Authorities say Stack barricaded the door and kept police at bay for three hours before he was apprehended.

Stack faces charges of aggravated battery on a police officer, aggravated assault on police, and assault.
