PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man was convicted on Wednesday for shooting another man last spring.

Karrington Walker, 26, was on trial for allegedly shooting Maurice Sargent on April 5 at the intersection of Rohmann and Western.

Sargent was shot the leg while he sat in his vehicle. He attempted to drive himself to the hospital, but crashed his car on Western Avenue.

Walker was originally tried for the shooting in September of last year, but no verdict was issued due to a hung jury.

He faces a maximum sentence of 55 years in prison when he is sentenced on March 6.
