PEORIA, Ill. -- A 50-year-old Peoria man is dead after he was run over by his own car.
Harry Lilly died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
About 20 minutes earlier, Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Lilly parked in the lot of Aaron's Furniture on Knoxville.
He got out, leaving his girlfriend, Mary Ann Watson in the passenger seat.
Reports to Ingersoll indicate Watson doesn't drive, so when the car began moving forward, Watson honked the horn to alert Lilly.
As he walked toward the moving car, it hit Lilly, knocking him down and trapping him underneath.
An autopsy shows he had underlying heart disease and died of compressional asphyxia.
The coroner's office and police department continue to investigate.
