PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man is dead just days after being involved in a high speed chase.
Seventy-four-year-old David Carlson was pronounced dead about 4 p.m. Thursday at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Carlson was airlifted to OSF early Sunday morning after he allegedly led Peoria County deputies on a high speed chase.
Authorities say they tried to pull Carlson over on Route 90 due to a headlight being out. He appeared to pull over before speeding away.
Police say Carlson's vehicle reached speeds of 105 miles per hour.
The chase ended when his car went into the guardrail at Route 90 and 91.
He was ticketed for several offenses, including DUI.
Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Carlson died from a spinal cord injury.
