Peoria man flees from armed suspect

PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man was able to flee from an armed robber on Wednesday night, officers say.

Police spoke to the victim who said that he was walking to his home on the 600 block of Spitznagle from Tony's Market.

The victim said that when he got into the 300 block of Spitznagle, he was approached by a black male that was armed with a large, black handgun.

The suspect told the victim to empty his pockets, but the victim fled from the suspect. The suspect did not chase or fire upon the victim and the victim was able to call the police.

No suspects are known in this case.
