PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria County Grand Jury has indicted Bryan Stewart for the murder of downtown club owner Todd Scholl and for the arson of a downtown building.

On Tuesday, the grand jury indicted Stewart on charges of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Arson and Arson.

Stewart confessed to police that he repeatedly stabbed Scholl and set two fires to cover the crime.

He is charged with Aggravated Arson because the fire endangered the lives of some two dozen residents of upper floor apartments at the building at Main and Perry.

Stewart remains in Peoria County Jail on $1.5 million bond.
