Peoria man killed in early morning crash

PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County coroner said a Peoria man killed in a single vehicle crash early Tuesday morning died of head injuries.

Collin Childs, 28, of Peoria was traveling eastbound in the 1100 block of Mac Queen Avenue early Tuesday morning when his car skidded and left the road before striking a telephone pole, guard rail and small retaining wall.

Childs was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene at 6:50 a.m.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
