PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man is dead after a single car-crash on the city's south side early Wednesday morning.
Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says a sheriff's deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Christopher Williams at Rohmann and Sterling about 1am.
The deputy ended the pursuit at Manor Parkway and Waverly after the driver kept going.
Authorities say the 32-year old Williams was pronounced dead about 1:30am at the intersection of Western and Howett..after his vehicle struck a light pole.
An autopsy is set for Wednesday afternoon.
