Peoria man pleads guilty to 2011 murder

PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man faces up to 70 years in prison after pleading guilty to a 2011 murder on Thursday.

Kenon Allen plead guilty to first degree murder and attempted murder in connection to an August 2011 incident at a TitleMax Store in Peoria.

Prosecutors said Allen attacked his estranged wife, Traci Allen, who worked at the business on 3308 University St., severely injuring her.

Mary Sue Roberts, 27, was severyely injured during the incident after trying to come to her friends' aid. She later died at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Allen is set to be sentenced on February 6.
