PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police are investigating an armed robbery that took place in the 1300 block of NE Madison Ave. Sunday night.

The victim told police that he was walking on Madison shorty after 4 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up to him. A passenger in the vehicle offered the victim a ride.

The victim said that he sat in the back next to the passenger. He said the vehicle drove a short distance and then stopped. The suspect pulled out a handgun, hit the victim with it and demanded money. The victim gave him an unlisted amount of money and got out of the vehicle.

The victim said that he believes that the driver was involved as he did not do anything to stop the robbery.

The vehicle driven was described as a blue 90's model Ford Taurus.

There are no known suspects.
