Peoria man sentenced to 70 years for 2011 murder

PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria man was sentenced to 70 years in prison on Thursday for a 2011 murder.

Kenon Allen plead guilty last December to first degree murder and attempted murder for an August 2011 incident at the Titlemax store at 3308 University St.

According to prosecutors, Allen attacked his estranged wife Traci Allen while she was at work, severely injuring her. Mary Sue Roberts, 27, was also injured during the incident after trying to come to her friend and coworker's aid. She later died at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Allen was sentenced to 50 years for first degree murder and 20 for the attempted murder charge. He must serve all his 50 year term and 85 percent of his 20 year term.
